For years, Starbucks has been the reason you’re late for morning work meetings. But, McDonald‘s is coming for their market share in 2024 with their new space-inspired spinoff restaurant CosMc’s. You’re going to want to take a look at CosMc’s menu.
Last week, real estate investor Iman Jalali posted photos of the first CosMc’s location in Bolingbrook, Illinois on X as well as some photos of their drive-thru menu.
According to what we saw, CosMc’s all-day breakfast menu features breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, bakery items, ice cream, and a whole ton of customizable coffee drinks, including a s’mores cold brew.
From espresso drinks to chilled frappes and Refresher-like beverages, Starbucks might have a serious competitor. Especially since one of the ways you can customize the drinks is by adding boba.
The out-of-this-world menu looks sort of like McDonald’s smashed a Dutch Bros, Sonic, and the most popular Starbucks secret menu recipes together and tossed in some food with it. We’re also pretty sure it’s going to be a hit.
What Is Cosmc’s
At its core, Cosmc’s is a new spinoff restaurant concept from McDonald’s.
On their second quarter earnings call, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said, “our new business ventures team is in the process of developing a new concept we will call [CosMc’s], which we will test in a small handful of sites in a limited geography beginning early next year. [CosMc’s] is a small format concept with all the DNA of McDonald’s but its own unique personality.”
Based on Jalali’s photos, CosMc’s is an all-day breakfast and beverage restaurant with a four-lane drive thru. McDonald’s filed the trademark in May 2023 and will launch the concept in early 2024.
The menu Jalali posted didn’t show prices, but they’re likely to be competitive with Starbucks and Dunkin‘s. Considering the cost of Starbucks these days, they might even be less expensive.
When Will CosMc’s Open?
McDonald’s has not yet officially announced the exact date or location of the first Cosmc’s restaurant. However, the company has indicated that it plans to launch the new concept in early 2024.
That said, it looks like there will be at least one location in the Chicago suburb Bolingbrook at the corner of Boughton Road and Weber Road.
Who Is CosMc?
CosMc is an orange alien created by McDonald’s as part of their McDonaldland advertising campaign in the 1980s. He wears a fishbowl-like silver suit and has a love of trading random objects and McDonald’s food.
In the original commercial, CosMc trades Ronald McDonald, the Professor, and Grimace their skateboard, headphones, and a picnic basket full of cheeseburgers, fries, and shakes for a lamp, pool float, and flowers.
A Look at CosMc’s Menu
The CosMc menu is why Starbucks and Dunkin might want to consider launching some more exciting drinks to keep customers. Or just bring back the S’mores Frappuccino.
Their customers have been customizing their drinks and creating secret menu options for years. And, now, McDonald’s CosMc’s is allowing customers to do the same. Here’s a look at what’s on the CosMc menu:

Customers can add boba, an energy boost, or flavor syrup to the iced teas or lemonade drinks.
