Suddenly, this Fall is about a lot more than pumpkin spice. That’s because Dolly Parton is releasing the cookbook and party planning book “Good Lookin’ Cookin’: A Year of Meals – A Lifetime of Family, Friends, and Food” with her sister, Rachel Parton George.
Dolly, the epitome of Southern sweetness and queen of country music, took to Instagram and X on March 6 to dish out the exciting news, sharing tantalizing glimpses of the book‘s cover and a mouthwatering photos of some of the recipes. The anticipation is palpable – after all, who can resist the promise of good food and good times, served up Dolly-style?
She wrote, ““I wrote this book with my sister, Rachel, who might just be the best cook I know. If you’re like us, you believe that good food and good times are the next best thing to pure love. So take a journey with us, into the kitchen.”
After the success of her baking mix collaboration with Duncan Hines, it seems the all-around amazing human has decided to continue exploring the culinary world. What’s next, a cooking show? (Please yes.)
The upcoming cookbook is scheduled to hit shelves on September 17 and will include recipes for holidays and events including Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and from the looks of the photos, fancy dinner parties. You can pre-order it here.
And, if you’re curious, the title was inspired by what Dolly says every time she walks into her sister’s kitchen. You hear it here, folks. Yes, chef is out. Good Lookin’ is in.
What Recipes Will Dolly Parton’s Cookbook Include?
Good Lookin’ Cookin’ will be published on Ten Speed Press and feature plenty of Dolly’s charm, none of Jolene, and more than 80 recipes for you to cook and bake. There will also be tips for entertaining, 12 multi-course menus for events.
The recipes will include American classics such as:
- Country Ham and Biscuits
- Barbecue Spare Ribs
- Meatloaf
- Cole Slaw
- Watermelon Fruit Salad
- Mac and Cheese
- Strawberry Shortcake
- Creme Brulee
- Green Bean Casserole with Mushrooms and Bacon
- Fried Green Tomatoes
It will also include the recipe Rachel makes for Dolly’s birthday and some recipes showcased on her X and Instagram that we can’t identify. But we’re sure they’re delicious. It is Dolly after all.
