We take everything seriously at Let’s Eat Cake. Facts, humor, and delivering great content to our readers. In fact, the only thing we don’t take too seriously is ourselves. When it comes to digital content, every fact we publish can be trusted. Our Editorial Department is comprised of editors who take accuracy and truth seriously. Copy editing… not so much. But, we’re working on that.
Let’s Eat Cake’s Editorial Standards and Policies
Editorial Policy
Almost every piece of content on Let’s Eat Cake is humorous. With the exception of the first recipes we published and topics that cover sensitive subjects, we aim to work in our unique brand of irreverent humor into every post we publish. Every article we publish is checked for factual accuracy. We expect our writers to be accurate in the work they turn in, but our editorial department double checks all facts for clarity and accuracy just in case.
We work with primary sources and subject matter experts for quotes and information, and rely on a keen team of writers and editors, some of whom are subject matter experts themselves. If we say we’ve tested it, we have and we’re providing you with our unvarnished opinion on the matter. If you ever find a piece needs correction, you are welcome to email us at contact@letseatcake.com.
Affiliate Disclosure
One of the ways Let’s Eat Cake generates revenue is through affiliate marketing. (If you’re curious, we make money through affiliate marketing, advertising, and our Etsy store. That’s why we run so many ads, in case you wanted us to stop doing that.) If you buy something after you click on one of those affiliate links, we earn a commission. However, we only feature products we really like (or think are weird) and we’ll never recommend a product we don’t think you should know about. The items we feature are chosen by our editorial team’s standards or because an authoritative expert we trust suggested them.
Content Updates
Sometimes, new information comes to light and stories need to be updated. If we update a story to more accurately reflect the facts, you can see when we did this in the time stamp. Now, to be fair, sometimes we update stories because someone left a hanging participle in a post, but it is what it is. Most of the time, articles are updated to add additional information, more clearly state the facts, or add additional quotes from an authority on the matter.
Plagiarism
We do not permit plagiarized work at Let’s Eat Cake. If we find that a piece has been plagiarized, that writer is no longer permitted to write for the site and we review their previous work.
