Regencycore is the fashion trend riding the massive coattails of Netflix’s Bridgerton’s success. If 2020 was the year of sweatpants and sourdough, then 2021 will be the year of empire line dresses, high tea, and no more sourdough!
Since Bridgerton hit Netflix, searches have increased for a number of regenycore terms, like “A-line dresses,” “corsets,” “floral patterns,” and “pearl-adorned headbands.” And also “Armie Hammer?” Assuming that one’s unrelated — or is it?
The style of the show’s lead, Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor), could be described as sophisticated. She could also be described as relying heavily on Wedgwood blue – a pale grey blue color – and bedazzled with pearls and jewels. The Featherington family, meanwhile, shows up adorned in bright colors and floral patterns.
While Regencycore is fancier and royal-er than cottagecore, there are some similarities between the two styles — like flowy dresses, floral patterns, and a marked absence of LED string.
Look we may not be going anywhere until the summer, but that doesn’t mean we and our homes can’t act like it. And, apparently, steamy, escapist TV is just what fashion needed to get us out of our sweats and into something a little less “we haven’t left our house in 11 months.”
With just a few changes to your closet and decor, your style can align that of your inner queen. Here’s where to start.
