Starbucks just officially dropped the Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino as part of the winter menu and perfectly timed for the holiday of love. The pink Valentine’s Day drink combines strawberry and chocolate — two of our favorite flavors — for a refreshing coffee-free drink. So, naturally we wanted to review it.
The strawberry drink is basically dessert in a cup and would be the perfect topper to date night for your upcoming Feb. 14 plans, but we also support you grabbing one of these Cupid-inspired drinks morning, noon, and night and doing it completely on your own. That’s what we did!
The Valentine beverage is one of two available this season. Starbucks also just released a Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie Cold Brew made with cold brew, hazelnut syrup, then topped with chocolate cream Cold Foam and chocolate cookie crumbles.
What Is the Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino?
The Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino is exactly what it sounds like. It’s been a beloved secret menu drink for ages, but this is the first time it’s made it to the main menu (kind of like the Pink Drink).
It’s your standard strawberry crème Frappuccino with java chips chucked in. Ok, officially it’s blended ice, milk, strawberry puree, and java chips on top of a base of strawberry puree. It’s topped (like all Frappuccinos) with whipped cream. Who doesn’t want to top their sugar with creamier sugar? We love giving our digestive problems more digestive problems!
It’s like the Strawberry Crème Frappuccino and the Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino got together for Valentine’s Day and had a baby Frappuccino and this was the result. If only it looked as good as it does in the press photos.
My Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino Review
You really can’t go wrong when you mix chocolate and strawberries. The combo is the epitome of Valentine’s Day. Along with being unable to get last-minute dinner reservations.
Our drink was fully blended, but in the marketing photos, the strawberry puree still intact. We can’t help but think that if this drink had a ribbon of strawberry puree throughout and chunks of chocolate, that would really make this Frappuccino sing. Are we asking too much? Would that make it milkshake-level? Perhaps. But let’s be real — this is a milkshake.
Long story short, we’re not mad at this drink, even if it could be prettier. (It’s an muddy shade of reddish brown, thanks to the, well, red and brown.)
But, it’s a perfect mix of chocolate and strawberry, and while it’s definitely sweet, it’s not sickeningly sweet like some of Starbucks’ Frappuccinos, so we’ll consider it a winner.
How to Order the Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino Any Time
Right now, you can order it at any Starbucks location. But, if you want to enjoy one in the summer here’s what to ask for: “I’d like a Strawberry Crème Frappuccino with strawberry puree and java chips.”
The amount of chocolate can be adjusted to your heart’s desire. For reference, the Tall size has three scoops of chips.

Okay I’m a sbux barista and whoever made your frappuccino did it wrong! It IS supposed to look like the photos, and all of mine have, (more or less if we’re busy). Definitely recommend trying it again. It looks like they made yours with mocha sauce instead of Java chips and forgot the puree at the bottom. I recommend adding mocha drizzle to the top for an even chocolatier taste😋
